The Fred Woodard Trio BandGuitarist Fred Woodard, a long time Boston resident and Berklee College of Music graduate has led various bands in the area for well over a decade. Woodard has treated New England audiences to his unique style of Jazz in popular night spots, such as DAVIOS, SLADES, ESTELLES and WATER WORKS. He has also added his explosive sounds to special events such as the WGBH Boston Tea Party, Coalition of 100 Black Womens' 'Nubia Night' Festivities, the ABCD's 21st Annual Community Awards Dinner and The Iowa City Jazz Festival. Here is what Eric Jackson, Host of WGBH Radios, (Eric In The Evening) had to say about Woodard?s debut CD:'I find Fred's tone to be warm and inviting, making you want to hear more from him. No matter if he's playing a Ballad or an African American Spiritual, like Joshua Fit De Battle ob Jericho, that warmth shines through. He gives a 'Spanish Tinge' to the standard I've Grown Accustomed To Her Face. Arrival and Ballad for Barbara have a joyous bluesy feel to them and would like to meet the Granny that inspired the infectious groove of blues for Granny.' This CD documents not only Woodard's talents as a guitarist but also a composer and arranger with SIX of the NINE tracks on this CD being original compositions.
